COVID-19 Precautions:
Crown Point Youth Soccer is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of all people. The recommendations bulleted below are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Additionally, families should seek advice from medical professionals and/or public health officials if they have specific questions about their child’s return to training and competition. Please note that medical knowledge and state recommendations involving COVID-19 are changing constantly, and CPYS will modify guidelines if needed during the season to reflect new local, state, and federal requirements.
CPYS Safety Guidelines
Club Responsibilities:
• Share CPYS protocols and guidelines via email and website to its members.
• Train and educate all staff on protocols and requirements, including state and local regulations, CDC recommendations, and other necessary information.
• Modify CPYS guidelines per local, state, and federal updates in regards to updated information concerning COVID-19.
• Provide adequate field space for social distancing.
• Provide hand washing stations and waste receptacles at fields.
• Develop a relationship and a dialog with health local officials.
Coach Responsibilities:
• Ensure the health and safety of the athletes.
• Inquire how the athletes are feeling, send them home should you believe they act or look ill.
• Follow all state and local health protocols.
• Ensure all athletes utilize only their individual equipment (ball, water, bag, etc).
• Coach is the only person to handle cones, disk, and other soccer equipment.
• Coaches are encouraged to wear a face mask when actively coaching and to maintain social distance requirements from players based on state and local health requirements.
• Have fun, stay positive – players and parents are looking to you to stay calm, supportive, and caring during this time.
• Distribute one penny per player and the beginning of the season and collect at the end of the season.
• Enforce no group high 5’s, hugs, handshakes, etc during practices or games.
• No team snacks to be shared/distributed during practices or games.
• Recruit a parent to be the “Safety Manager” to ensure social distancing and safety protocols are followed in regards during practices and games.
Player Responsibilities:
• Wash hands thoroughly before and after training.
• Bring and use hand sanitizer at every training if possible. Every coach will be provided with one bottle of hand sanitizer as well for a second option.
• Do not touch or share anyone else’s equipment, water, clothing, or bag.
• Practice social distancing, place bags and equipment at least 6 feet apart. Masks on players are not recommended for practice or games times, as players will be involved in vigorous physical activity. Families may opt to have their child wear a mask before or after soccer activities if they so choose.
• Bring a club provided penny to each practice. Wash after each use.
Parent Responsibilities:
• Ensure the child is healthy and check your child’s temperature prior to any training session.
• Adhere to social distance requirements, based on state and local health requirements. The wearing of masks by parents and fans is recommended for attending practices and games but not required.
• Ensure all equipment, cleats, ball, shin guards, clothing (penny) etc. are sanitized/washed before and after every training and game.
• Notify the coach if your child becomes ill. Notify the board if your child is diagnosed with COVID-19 immediately. Names of any player contracted with the virus will be kept confidential by the board.
• Do not assist the coach with equipment before or after training.
• Be sure your child has necessary sanitizer with them at every training or uses the provided hand sanitizer by the coach after each practice.
